Merle Elias is a writer, researcher and a certified culture vulture. Back in NYC in the 80s, she began her career as an apprentice to one of the art industry’s very first art advisors. Dispatched to galleries, museums, and auction houses, she was properly schooled to write condition reports, place bids at auctions, and helped to build the collections of the advisory’s high-profile clients.
Armed with an extraordinary amount of hands-on experience, in 1990 she accepted an opportunity to relocate to the west coast to expand her universe. It was in Los Angeles that she naturally fell into representing visual artists where she carefully identifies exhibition and sales opportunities for her stable of clients. She also offers art advisory services to clients who wish to purchase artwork out in the field. Her relationships with artists, gallerists and art fair dealers is something she truly values and has tremendous confidence in. Writing and researching guidebooks is a passion of hers. One she cannot explain rationally to this day.
You can find Merle’s previous book, “Los Angeles: First Class,” from Globe-Pequot Press in stores and available on Amazon.
